Hi everyone-

the local animal shelter is gearing up for its big annual fundraiser and i was thinking of donating a few custom engraved dog (or cat, i suppose) tags. have any of you done this before?

where might i find good quality sterling tags? i'd really rather not have to saw them out of sheet stock.

presumably i'd make a sample, then folks would be bidding on similar items with their own pets' names engraved. any other suggestions for doing something like this?

Rio may have 'em - as discs in 14 or 18 gauge... but you may have to drill 'em - or if you are a smith, solder on a 12 gauge ring.

Dog tags that go on "real" dogs get completely thrashed, so keep the engraving VERY simple.

Intricate shading and fine lines will be invisible in 6 months or less... :(

Try Hoover & Strong in Richmond/Plainfield, VA. I ordered a bunch a year or two ago.
