Damm, that leaves me out.

But I strongly support your advice.
Anyone with the chance to go to a school that teaches a trade and doesn't, misses out on a great opportunity.

Switzerland:
http://gravurtech.ch/wir-bilden-lehrlinge-aus/
http://www.graveurverband.ch/
4yrs. it s an apprenticeship, dual system. Apprenticeship at a company (4 days/week practical) plus school (1day/week, theoretical)

swiss design schools. (Swiss gov. schools)

These are so called "first educations" , people do after their school or high school exam, as a first profession/job related education!
That is the reason why the schools are "free" government own schools! (not free, but paid by German,Swiss tax payers!)
Most Students will be about 16-20yrs old when they start!
I guess, you must be able to write, understand and speak german, as lessons, examinations are in German language!

Don t know if you just can join one of these schools, if you come/apply from a non european (EU) country...?!

Please Ask!

The European Academy for Goldsmiths, Silversmiths, Jewelers
(German Jewelery Crafts Council school) offers weekly courses,
not free, but supported by the German Crafts Council, therefore prices are not expensive.
It is a very small school, one main workshop-classroom only, non-profit-gov. suported, but good teachers.
There is also an Hand-engraving course, once a year. (450Eur, 5day course)
