MERGING INSIDE AND OUTSIDE ELEMENTS - Figure 1 shows a basic and rather predictable scroll design. In Figure 2 a red line shows how to connect the outside element with an inside element. Figure 3 - After the connection a few lines are erased and the two are merged into one. A fold-over is added in figure 4 and the completed scroll is shown in Figure 5.

Variety is the spice of life, and two variations are also shown. It's little tricks like these that can add interest and greater depth to your work, and there are endless combinations and possibilities.

thanks Sam for taking a few min to show what difference a line or three make. It is always important to remember the fundamentals of design and design variation. could have stopped at any point and had a first order piece of work. thanks again for the cafe' fred
