I got a whole box of antique gravers and handles many years ago. Now that I'm 14 months from retirement, I am getting serious about learning how to use these things. Are there any Engravers in the St. Louis area familiar with old school hand engraving? I've ordered the Holy Grail book on engraving, but books don't teach "Art".

It won't teach you to cut but I usually recommend Lee Griffith's book as a first instruction manual for drawing scrollwork.

the beauty of the aforementioned griffiths book-- it shows just 3 or 4 elementary line shapes. the book then shows how these elementary lines can combine to produce design of advanced quality. didyoungs' book also shows that.
