Hello Andrew,
Most of the ideas came from the book, "Practical Watch Repairing" by Donald de Carle. The first edition was in 1946, this reprint is from 1971.
Now days the new repair books are called, "Practical battery replacement for Watches or how to buy a new one."

Wow, this looks fantastic, from the photos I wouldn't even think it's engraving. I want to see more, I want to see how it's done. Great stuff.
