If your medallion truly is "antique" - being over 100 years old will make it pretty difficult to find whoever engraved the die that this was struck from.

If you've got a huge amount of patience and time, and you are fairly sure it was made in the Philippines - start with trying to find an industrial area where dies are made and go show it around to people who work for some of the companies capable of striking it. You might get lucky and get a lead and then again you might not.

It may be that the factory or shop has closed, most certainly after 100 years the engraver is no longer living - and all that may be left behind are stories that cannot really be verified?

It may also be that the medallion was made in another country entirely?

Good luck, let us know if you find anything and how you got the result.

the medallion is not engraved. it is die-struck. the die was engraved when in the annealed state. later it was hardened by heat treating.. the monogram is the initials of the person that engraved the die set.

hehehe silly of me, maybe i didnt explain much, my bad.

medallion is stamped with a die, and the die has a monogram of the engraver (got it right? hehehe)

i think the engraved die for that medallion is not from here (philippines).

factors
a) the background of fleur de lis is not from asia, particularly here in ph
b) not much engraver for dies with such details (as far as i know), or maybe no one can do such details (except me hehehe, eheeem)
c) market, that definitely not much here for such an item.

thanks for the feedback brian and monk

Bergling's middle initial was M.
You can see examples of his books on google books.

My 2 cents are on James Bergling

The more I look at this the more I change my mind.
Looks like reversed letter "J" as first initial and "B" as second initial or middle name entwined in a surname large "S."
Both Sam and Andrew design a lot of monograms so their thoughts would be best.
Sorry for jumping the gun.

I thought the same thing (Bergling) John, until I remembered his middle initial of M. Kind of hard to tell on this one isn't it?

It would appear to me that you have a Dutch mariners medallion. The Fleur de Leis combined with the orange blossoms would indicated the House of Orange, Netherlands, Noah on the water indicates a mariner. JMHO! I would guess it was struck somewhere in the Netherlands.
