Carlos,

That gun is an A. J. Aubrey which was the name used on shotguns retailed by Sears, Roebuck & Co.from 1905 until about 1917. The damascus barrels were made in Belgium, as were all damascus shotgun barrels. The letters on the underside of the barrels is the barrel maker's ID stamp. The guns were actually made by the Meriden Firearms Co. in Meriden, CT. There were many different models of Aubrey guns over the years with many styles of engraving. From the examples I have seen there must have been several different people who engraved for Meriden. The quality of engraving runs the gamut from awful to pretty nice. Nevertheless, I have never learned the names of any Meriden engravers.

A.J. Aubrey was General Manager of Meriden Fire Arms Co., but in a corporate reorganization in 1910 he was replaced by James K. Williams. The Aubrey trade name continued to appear in Sears catalogs along side the Meriden name for several years after his departure.
