Yes if you keep the serial numbered part without the owner present you should be logging them in to a bound book, and have a FFL by current federal Regs . I only became a firearms mfg because they required it to paint guns . And because of this i learned that the price between a 01 and 07 is the same but the O7 mfg allowed more to be done. Since i could build anything i wanted to with it... a little knowledge is a bad thing for some of us LOL 80% 1911s on to beltfed Mgs if you pay your uncle his taxes .
Am I required to have an FFL to engrave firearms ?
Yes if.......You'll get some variations of the same answer....but in the end if you want to stay out of the ATF'S bad side, I would get an FFL license, remember people interpret the law in different ways.
