Question: Hot isostatic pressing for platinum group metals

Has anyone had any experience working with platinum that has gone thru the hot isostatic pressing process. Techform in Portland, OR offers it. Evidently it compresses the metal under heat and pressure making it denser and harder. I'm going to do a test with a PTRU950 band and inlayed gold when I get home from the FEGA show. Any comments would be helpful.

Personally I have no experience, but have heard good things about Iso hot press. Supposedly it will also remove porosity in castings. (Not only of Pt but also gold etc.) By giving the metal a change to restructure in self.

Please let us know when you have something to show us. And how your findings are.
