Commonly used in the vintage British gun trade as I understand it.
I use it on my collection; I find it particularly effective on browned Damascus barrels where it adds a cosmetic sheen without being overly glossy.
Can't go too far wrong with a mixture put together by the British Museum :)

PS...I might add that I will give 2 or 3 coats of the blackened wax until satisfied with the look and then another coat or two of clear. When wiping on the wax I give it a few seconds and then wipe with a paper towel. If left to dry very long it becomes harder to buff to a luster.

This process has kept aluminum engravings nice and shiny for some years (no oxidation).

I use Renaissance Wax on all my guns at gun shows. Great protection from " rusty hands."

Works for me at gun shows also. Everyone want to pick the gun up to examine it until they see the price tag!
