This was a very informative project for me. I have never cut into any Stainless steel before except for an old practice plate, and I'm not sure that was even SS. Not knowing much about SS I decided to give this 2Cr13 SS handle a try. After struggling with it for a while I figured it out! Im not sure if this is a particularly hard SS to engrave or not but I would love to know how it compares to others. If anyone else has tried and has any info they are willing to share about how it compares to other SS that would be awesome!!

That seems a little odd to use for a handle, sounds more like a blade steel. If you want to know what nice stainless steel feels like buy one of these and engrave something on it. They disassemble easily and you can sand the top face with a few minutes work.

I do remember a buck knife I engraved when I started out had very resolute stainless steel on it and a friend of mine tried a different model of theirs and struggled with it too. It's likely the steel IS difficult.

Read through these threads and there are heaps more on here for tips on working with different and difficult things.

Thanks Dani Girl!
I thought it was odd as well but I called the company and their engineer confirmed that the handle was made of 2Cr13 SS.

I am all ears to feedback and recommendations. I think I am missing the specifics to your recommendation as to which piece would be good try to truly feel nice stainless steel. Was there a link?
Much appreciated!

Danae,
I didn't see what knife you were recommending. I'm on my iPad overseas so perhaps it got cut out.
