This chart shows which GRS graver goes into which QC holder. It's important that round shank gravers be used in the correct size QC holder for repeatable accuracy in sharpening.

Thanks to Joel Kirk at GRS for making this chart!

Nice post Sam, one would assume, the only identifier for each QC holder is having to measure each hole, or is there some ID stamped on each QC holder, as the OEM gravers are.

It's not stamped on them but it would sure be nice if it was.

With the 1/8" round qc holder and the round shank flats, how does one index them so the bottom flat is on the same plane as the power hone?

Thanks

Here's how I do it:

1.) mount the graver in the QC holder but don't tighten the setscrew.
2.) plug graver into a QC Adapter mounted in the Dual Angle sharpener with the rotation angle set to "0" and locked.
3.) set tool post angle to "0" but leave but don't lock down.
4.) have an allen wrench ready and lay the flat bottom of the graver on a ceramic lap and rotate it in the QC holder until in snaps flat against the ceramic.
5.) snug setscrew in QC holder while the graver is flat against the lap, tighten fully once removed.

It sounds complicated but it takes 30 seconds to do, and once done, is good for the life of the graver.
