This is a technique we call it " siah Ghalam" in Iran and it is engraving and sometimes etching is used as other techniques. The dimension: 48x63

Thank you it is done by chisel and hammer. The design is by Master Mahmud Farshchian and done on copper sheet covered by tin.

How is the copper sheet bonded to the tin? Thicknesses?

Is there a color image of this work (or similar style work) somewhere online so that one can see the effects of the two colors?

Or is the tin perhaps used as a "blanket" between the working tools/chisels to mute or smooth out the work?

The technique used to cover the sheet is a different process with that of engraving and done by other masters but briefly the sheet is heated then cleaned by ammonium chloride. then the tin is melted on the surface and then scattered on the surface by cotton then we start engraving on the sheet. The thickness of the sheet is 1 mm. The image is not coloured but anyway I send it here.

I preferred to add some more pictures on this work since it had different layers.
