It is a colt government series 70. I would like just some simple scroll work done on each side of the slide.

Hello Mnvarro,
Is your slide Stainless steel or blue. ?
There is the cost of re-bluing if it's a carbon steel slide to consider after engraving.
Is your slide in good shape or does it require metal preparation before engraving? Engraving will not hide rust or pitting.
Who is going to do the disassembly and re-assembly the gun? You or the engraver?
There are some very good firearm engravers in your area.
Look for the listings on the www.fega.com forum and make an appointment to show your slide to one of them for an estimate.
Hope this is some help and best of luck with your project.

It's kind of like calling up a car lot and asking how much does a car cost? Or calling the mechanic and asking how much does it cost to repair a car? Monk's answer is the correct one. Between $100 and $10,000 is what I tell folks. It depends on a list of variables that is too long to list on this forum.
Better to decide on a budget. Then decide on a particular style you like. If the two are in sync, great. If not you'll either have to find more money or adjust your expectations.
