About how big is that sketch? I've tried big (around 6-10 inches) medium (3-5") and small but can't really seem to bring everything together. I know I'm new to engraving and it takes a while to get the feel but it seems like the sketches should be on the smaller side. When I do that, I can never really get the detail to look clear. I can get the forms down pretty good (and that is my main goal) but fleshing out the drawing to where it doesn't look completely like a 7 year old did it has been hard.

From the exact center up, the tendrils seems to need more curvature; they're going straight out of the overlapping tendril and the beginning is difficult to determine. Just my opinion.

here is an example of where the dreaded "oval spine" can actually work and look good.
