I recently purchased an Axtell 1877 Sharps No 1 Creedmoor rifle that has some beautiful old time style engraving on it. I have tried to find out who did the engraving. The broker who sold it was mistaken. FEGA's historian Roger Bleile has tried to help me but we haven't found the artist so far. I asked Carmen Axtell if she had any records on this rifle but they are non-existent. I would like to know the provenance and be able to give credit to whoever did such fine work. I will try to attach some pictures.
