This gun was manufactured in 1917. It's a somewhat early first generation. The scenes will be world war one related. Still pondering what they will be. I was going to put ivory grips on that I could scrim but am now rethinking because of the ivory legal complications.

Very nice Lee.
Bet you have a line of guns lined up down your road trying to push and shove their way into your garage!

The usual great looking start Lee. Love the design of the left panel. Now for my question and I know you will have a very logical answer. How come your layout on the top and left side roll over onto each other unlike the left side which is it's own panel. You thinking of some kind of a roll over scene?

I need more morning coffee.. I meant to type the RIGHT side and top rolling into each other not the left and top Hope my engraving this morning is better than my typing

Im thinking bi-planes and horse drawn caissons. Maybe "Ivorex"(sp) or something similar in lieu of real ivory, but the real ones would certainly be fitting to the project.

Now if I can remember the questions.....

The fixture was made for me b y the late Don Glaser. The spindles are brass. One can be screwed in and out to tighten on the piece to be held. I have a bit of thermolock on each end for the spindle to tighten into. The advantage is the ability to rotate the piece on th spindles in lieu of tilting the vise or in addition to. It is also easier to slide the base frame in th jaws of the vise to keep the working area centered.

Marty your question is a good one. We all use a fair amount of symmetry in our work and when I can I tend towards asymmetry. Personal preference I guess. The top opening came down the side and broke up the line for the plane change so I just went with it for some variety and you are one of the few who probably noticed. I just can't slip things past you. The roll over scene is something I had not thought of. I don't think I'll use it on this one but it is worth keeping in mind.

Fantastic design on my favorite pistol! Looking forward to the finish gun. And thanks for posting pic in the jig. I"m off to the mill as soon as I get a chance to whip something similar up.

I appreciate the bulbosity of the scroll beginnings and the inclusion of grapes or what appears to me to be grapes within your design, unique.
