Customer requested blue paint fill after seeing my coloured in drawings.

Other customer sent me his daughters sketch and asked me to make her a pendant with it for her birthday.

Any and all feedback is great to see. Thanks in advance.

And this is a titanium Sebenza I am a few minutes from finishing. I made the scrollwork more visable by sanding the top flat area with fine 3m paper until I was happy. Probably half way through the bead blasting. I also used fine ceramic stones to brush the aa logo so it shines a little.

Today's work. Fairly happy with the flow if this design.

Nice size for everyone to see without straining.

What would you do differently.?

My latest work on a Peter Bald mother of pearl and stainless damascus incredibly smooth beautiful folder with nickel silver bolsters and liners. The Stainless damascus goes all the way back the spine and it really sparkles, love that knife

I'm not liking what happens with my shading when I shade the first leaves and the backbone coming around to the scroll head that the design starts from. IT all gets very muddy and messy and it's something I could really work on to improve my work.

My other problem with my own work on this one is it may have ben a better idea to make the two scrolls more equal in size eliminating the need for the huge floral fluffy bit coming off the back of the scroll to fill the empty space coming towards the cutting edge.

The background space isn't very evenly distributed and I just noticed something that I would prefer not to do. The leaf on the bottom right is directly opposite another leaf coming off the backbone. It would have been better if I had made them alternating consistently instead every other leaf alternates but those two end up right next to each other and it draws the eye in too much. The backbone or bulk of the larger scroll is thinner when it would be better if the bigger scroll had equal or more thickness than the smaller scroll.

I don't know what you will think of the shading on the scroll heads... but trying something new.

On the plus side the overall design is fairly pleasing, there are some good leaf shapes in there, the shading is pretty much even... and the overall effect on the knife is pleasant and I think it suits the 'flow' of the knife which is important to look at.

Hah!!!...........Isn't hindsight a wonderful thing. :)

I go through this process every time I cut something. I could have done this better, or that better, shaded this area differently, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc.

And the answer is always the same.........Next time :)

Self critique and never being quite satisfied is what drives you to do better.

You're doing really well and have come a long way with your work. It's great!!! :)

Cheers
Andrew

Here is a really cool folding knife titanium scale. Engraved with a bio-mechanical beetle styled design by Mick Butterworth. (who's engraving is coming along at a cracking pace). All credit to him for the design.

I'm starting to have more success with the anodizing at high voltages thanks to help, tips and supplies from friends.

I made this knife a couple of years ago roughtly, engraved the blade, and I also engraved the pins just before I had to send it away. It went in a knife in the hat and I got a cool kitchen knife out of the hat.
