What are these Engraving vise attachment jaws for

I purchased an engraving vise over a year ago that came with some weird jaws that can be attached. No clue as to what they are or do. I figured if anyone is going to know, it will be here. There is one photo of the jaws and one of the top of the vise. More photos now added.

they appear to be two matched pairs, both perhaps custom made to hold specific items the user engraved often. are those pins fixed or are they hex keys or? also of interest are the rectangular markings with blind/plugged holes that would be up above the primary vise jaws in use, assuming the supplemental jaws attach by the lower thru-holes? more pics at more angles, please!

They appear to be a way to elevate what ever the user was engraving on. The pins are apposed as to hold the pieces up while being held and rotated on the jaws. Maybe like a pistol barrel or flute barrel??
