Hi everyone,

Im hoping to buy a barlow lense for the Meijitechno microscope for engraving and stone setting work. I would like to know the best working distance from the bottom of microscope to top of the vise.

Please let me choose between the below two.

1. MA530 Barlow Lens 0.3X Magnification with Working Distance of 252mm

2. MA525 Barlow Lens 0.44X Magnification with Working distance of 181mm

Most of my work involves stone setting work and Im occasionally doing engraving.

Any experience you would like to share with me ?

Thank you.

Chathu.

For years I worked with 150mm distance and now I work with 200mm distance which I really like.

Stonesetters often work closer though, and I believe Alexandre Sidorov works about 120mm for his stonesetting. If you rest your arms on your workbench top like Alexandre then you will need a closer working distance.

Hi Sam,

Thank you for sharing your experience.

Closer working distance it is. I should go with the 181mm distance.

Thanks again.
