Dog portrait on a nickel

Here's a couple days of work. Lines and dots on a nickel that I smoothed out. Originally I was going to do a painting of this dog but as you can see the source material is pretty low res. I figured I might be able to get away with a lack of detail at nickel size. I am pretty pleased with how it came out, but I don't think I really captured the "furriness" of the subject. Any advice in that area would be appreciated. Thanks for looking.

I like it. It's really hard to get the eyes just right and it looks like you nailed it. You really brought out the personality of the animal. You just can't go wrong with squirrels or dogs. Probably would have been nice to leave the date on just to know it's a nickel at first glance.

Thanks Speedy. I only used this nickel because its date was pretty much worn smooth already. Normally I would prefer to do these on silver, but I didn't have any on hand.
