Using the new barrel bench....

The bench makes it easier, but its still a pain. Many cuts had to be made in reverse. Next time I'll send to Henry for shure no time on this one. It will get a pony express scene in the oval after the other side is done.

very pretty results ! how do you counterbalance to avoid the vise tipping over ? btw-- the rig is quite nice looking.

You did yourself a disservice by NOT removing the barrel. It took my gunsmith a grand total of five minutes to remove the barrel and cartridge tube on the last Henry I engraved, and that included the time going into his workshop from the front counter. I asked him how he did it, as I couldn't budge the barrel, and he said he "had a four foot pipe wrench," so I didn't comment further. If you don't already have one, get yourself a competent gunsmith and cultivate a genuine personal relationship with him.
