The final view of an ongoing project, I have no clue what took me so long! A powder horn fashioned in an 18th c. style depicting the life of a friend. The lid on the turned walnut butt end is a piece of translucent cow horn. The little Schnauzer dogs are carved in Basswood. The black tip is applied to a natural dyed horn with an ebony stopper, all sterling silver with the exception of the dogs dancing on a gold plated field. The horn body was engraved with a small knife and a burin, the other pieces were done using a PC. Enjoy!

Simply spectacular Marc. It reminds me of some of the original horns I saw at Valley Forge many years ago. They no longer are on display, but Philadelphia is currently in the process of building a Revolutionary war museum in the down town area. I believe it will open sometime in 2017 and should hold many wonderful artifacts from that era.

Very Nice! I hope you bring it to the CLA. I would love to see it in person. I have taken three powder Horn Classes with Art DeCamp. I am signed up for another this fall. I like working with horn it's a remarkable material.

Your Powder Horn is inspiring to me. I wish I had more time to devote to working on them.

Great Job!!!

Thanks for the kindness everyone.
Tim, it was a pleasure to meet you as well at the Engrave In, this is the project that I had in pieces at Scott's, not sure if you saw it in process.
