I have recently acquired the vise shown in the pictures and I was hoping someone could help me in identifying what brand it is and exactly what it is used for. I am not an engraver or a jeweler. This belong to a very good friend who passed on and I am looking to find a home for it.

I have not ever thought of doing something like this . I think it would be great if I could learn a trade like this but I do not have the natural art like skills it takes to do this work. So rather than put it on a shelf for the next 50 years I thought it would be better to find out more about it and find a home for it . And thank you Brian for the info . It is called "THE VICTOR"

Very common and classic engraving vise. It's nice that it's nearly complete with the lidded container and all attachments and leather pads.

i have an idea---- if you choose not to use it for the intended purpose of engraving--- post it in the "buy and sell" section on this forum. there's a tab at the page top. some of the members may be interested.
