I'm sitting at my bench this morning and just heard the cannons go off at 6 a.m. in my little community as a tribute to the veterans. I now have a bit of a tear in the corner of my eye. I wish everyone a safe and enjoyable Memorial Day and a special recognition to those in the past and present who have and do commit themselves to defending liberty. To my favorite veteran- my father who seven years ago moved on to the next chapter in his life- fond memories and many thanks for his life and legacy. I salute him and all of the others for their sacrifice. Cheers.

Growing up as a military brat then joining the military myself, I have always appreciated this Day of remembrance. I remember what it was like when a friend lost their father or sibling... I remember first hand how our family has been affected by such a loss.

To those we have lost and to those still in harms way My family and I are forever grateful for your courage and commitment to this Great Nation.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.
