Smithing has been around for a long, long, long time...

In this country USA, in my state (CA) it has always amazed me that there are so few immigrant African (or African/American) smiths, nor much interest in hand engraving.

Those countries & cultures have some incredible metalsmithing art traditions.

Just like with engraving. You don't need the modern cool tools, they just make it a lot easier.
