People tend to credit an entire population or race of people for what was probably one or two individuals. I think the number of artists and true innovators have always been a small percentage of the overall population of the world at any given time. Once an idea is innovated, it's much easier for others to copy. Be it the stone age, bronze age, iron age, etc. it was probably a small number of real thinkers and many imitators. Just a thought. :)
