Question: ah the great doubt about photos

ok so here is my last coin in 2 pics,one taken with paolo's method and one with a more natural illumination trough a microscope.. I am wondering, yes, Paolo's method evenly distributes the light but the natural lightning helps bring out the fact that the coin is in fact carved quite deep.. I was wondering if you could share your thoughts about the argument...

Looks to me like a bit of increased contrast and change of brightness on the first via photoshop or other manipulation program would make the two very similar. Straight across the board I would opt for the second shot.

yes, the second foto ! the carving is very good to my eye. it's really within the concept of the orriginal hobo nickels. many, myself included, have strayed far from the old ideas of what hobos should have for a theme.

Here is the first photo with added contrast and brightness in Photoshop Elements 8.

Some quality lost in my resizing and manipulations but you get the idea.
