Default Graver geometry for hand pushing

    Attachment 33009

    Attachment 33010

    Toolpost angle 35
Rotation angle offset 10 to the left of 0.

    Rotation angle 40
Graver is rocked from 0 to 15 to produce a large curved heel.

Offsetting the rotation angle moves the right cutting edge forward (or the left cutting edge back) so the graver favors a counter-clockwise (anti-clockwise) cutting direction.

If you're interested in hand pushing, then this is an easy graver to make.

New to sharpening on a PowerHone & 7 months new to hand pushing, I plan to make this graver tomorrow & try it out. Thank you for the settings. I have been using a 90, 105 & 120 with the GRS recommended geometry, and I do find slipping an issue with hand pushing the 120 in particular. I seem to gravitate to a steeper face angle & perhaps because I am new to engraving want to push too deep. Maybe this geometry will correct that tendency(?). idk... shall see.

    Regards, CarolP
