I own the book and several others from that era...

Nice to take a trip back through time once in a while.

I'd guess those geometries got the job done for well over a century?

Dunno, haven't been around quite that long...


We had already begun to change graver geometry 40 years ago, biggest changes were 20+ years ago - and still see an occasional variation every coupla years.

Most changes came from the development of sharpening fixtures, harder materials, diamond abrasives and the addition of power assisted tools to the mix.
