Here's the 2 that I made Friday 6160 and A2. I will probably sharpen the scribes to a point rather than the angle, they kinda tracked funkey wnd I know it was because of this.

Starrett 42-6 Lock-Joint Hermaphrodite Caliper
I found a set of these Starrett 42-6 Lock-Joint Hermaphrodite Calipers used on eBay. It was an estate sale where the seller didn't have a clue as to what they are worth. I got them for $14.00 shipped! (MSRP $156.00)

Dem-Bart Layout Guide Scribe
Also, Dem-Bart makes this handy Layout Guide Scribe for gunstock checkering. It's made from 3/8" square aluminum, 4" long with a sharpened and polished 1/8" allen wrench poked through a hole and a thumb screw to hold it in place.

The problem is that I haven't seen the 42-6 in 4" and the 6" does not lend itself to easy adaptions...
I find the 6" a bit awkward for my work.

So do I, as well as a forge and drop hammer... what I don't have is the time to mess with it.
There are at least 40 other ways that work as well or better already in my shop.
When I see a 4" version I'll buy it! My time at the moment is better spent elsewhere.
