FEGA in Las Vegas 2015

This was my first time attending and I want to encourage anyone who hasn't been to plan on next year! Spending time with kindred spirits, enjoying the camaraderie, the sharing of information and the warmth of reception is phenomenal. Not to mention the inspiration of seeing some of the best damned scratching being done on the planet! The seminars were definitely worth the price of admission! I want to thank all of the folks who gave encouragement, shared tips and generally helped me feel right at home. I'll be there next year with more to share.

Man, I have to go, if i could help out in anyway to record the seminar let me know for next years show. Those seminars should be preserved for future generations, just let me know how I can help.

You are right Jere. Doctor said it was the flu and as in my case started as a doozie of the galloping trots. Thus the mistake about the shrimp. Hey they weren't that good anyhow
MDengraver... What you wrote is quite eloquent and you should send it on to Andrew for the newsletter. Hes always looking for show reactions from our members
Carlos. Your help on the seminars is duly noted. I suggets you formally contact either Barry or Rex and let them see how you can help out rather than just posting on the forum. Makes it official that way if you know what I mean
I wish everyone a safe and healthy year and hope you all come out and enjoy next year. The little wheels are starting to spin on a few new projects I have in mind just for fun. Just wish I would stop thinking about them at 4 AM

Thanks to everyone who attended and helped make the annual FEGA Convention and show such a success.

I met some very talented new engravers and a few people I have been wanting to meet for some time now,
such as Steve Fjestad, Julie Warenski-Erickson, J.J. Roberts and many others.

Experienced engravers were generous with their time and knowledge. What a great group of people.
The quality of the engraving being done by FEGA members just keeps improving, as does Andrew Biggs's editing
and Sam Welch's photography. The next issue of The Engraver will surely be spectacular.

Barry Lee Hands and Rex Pedersen stepped up on short notice to give us excellent seminars.
Rex demonstrated English Scroll engraving, and Barry showed us inlay techniques that will save
me a lot of time this year. Some of what they showed us is included in the photos posted by
mdengraver. The amount of work that Barry and Rex quietly accomplish for the guild each year,
with the help of Betty Strosin and others, is truly impressive.

Marty, it is good to hear that you are getting better. I was sorry to see the flu force you
to leave the banquet early. You missed a good meal, but probably didn't miss it much.

Who's rolling block was that in the pictures? Very nice.
Like Carlos, I'm kicking myself for not going!!

Lesson for me is to stay away from the shrimp and ensure I'm current on my flu shot!

Dave, the case was worn off the frame so that it was not noticeable, that is, if it ever had it. I will have to anneal the block and hammer as they are still quite hard. It has been very nice to cut and sculpts well.
