here the start of a flask that I am building and going to engrave.

if all goes to plan it will have a hidden area with a door.(something like a picture locket)
I would like to engrave a rather long cowboy poem with a engraved bullion scene.
big ideas....
this something that I have wanted to do for a long time.

:thinking:the one area that I am not sure about is making a hidden hinge on the locket portion......I would like the surface to be smooth and appear to be just a regular looking flask.
.as long as I am able to construct the flask(not melt it) I believe the rest of the engraving should be just like a buckle or another bracelet.:tiphat:

Did you cut the treads on the spigot with a die or single point tool on the lathe. They look clean. Looking forward to seeing the finished product.
Cheers

:handpiece: time to start engraving this flask.

a slight twist clockwise unlocks the cap.
a slight twist counter clockwise locks the cap.
I soldered a small bead to the inside of the rim . then cut a channel around the bead.

all that is left to do is solder on the set of hobbles that I made.
one end will be soldered to the flask....the other will be soldered to the engraved ring on the lid.
don't want to loose the lid!!!

the main seams are soldered using hard solder
the neck and compartment I used medium solder
the pattern wire I used ez solder.
after soldering I used a pickle solution to remove any oxidation then cleaned with steel wool and last a good polish

Looks like it is going to be one nice piece when finished!

I use a bosal for my makers stamp. I can break that flask in for you with some single malt ;-)
