Howdy folks,

Been a while since I posted anything interesting here. So, to make up for my absence - one watch, engraved.

I wonder if they're too big for this nit-picking crowd... Oh, well, go ahead :)

Fantastic Vilts!
What is your choice of tools?
Burin, Hammer and Chisel, Pnuematic or all of the aforementioned?

Method of holding ?
What do you use to darken the background?
Did you serve an apprenticeship, go to school, self taught ?

In other words, show us some exotic, modern or old school tools/methods from your country to help expand our knowledge.
Thanks for getting around to showing again

No secrets here :). Lindsay toolset, held in vise with ThermoLoc and leather padding (this watch I engraved as assembled, because it was rather cheap. I would definitely disassemble more expensive ones).

Background was done with Hammerite paint, I believe US equivalent would be RustOLeum. One of Sam's tips, it is.

I learned from the best, great masters Sam, Scott and This Forum :)

Vilts and layout pattern in the manual or in some other way?

On the sides I drew the design on paper, scanned, printed with inkjet on transparency and transferred that using Zippo fluid and Dammar solution. Lugs and bezel was done old-school with china white (that should be just white watercolor, right?) and pencil.

You disappoint me!
I was hoping for a cool old school Indiana Jones or Starwars type technology, never before seen outside of Russia/Estonia.
Again, bottom line is the human doing the work.
Thanks for the pics and reply.

Very nicely done Viljo. It's a pity to waste that nice engraving on a cheap watch, but it does look great! Shame you're not in the UK as I could do with someone else to engrave watches occasionally.
