Hello All,

I am in need of an engraver in the Los Angeles area. I had a few coins I took to a local shop to have some lettering put on, and of course they fouled it all up. If there is someone in the area, I would like to hire you to help fix their mistake.

let me know,

Don Berry

I agree with Carlos, why not go with someone you know and respect. Today you can mail things overseas in just a few days, insuring you of quality work. If you wanted it yesterday, you should have done it yourself !

I don't agree with you and Carlos sorry , what is wrong in try to find a local engraver that can work well and fast?
He just ask for someone near to him that can do the Job in a good way ,just this.
I think that is not a strange question and i'm sure that in Los Angeles you have w lot of good Engravers , just we can help him in find one.

We need more people like you!
Shame it does`nt actually work like that, most are put off by oversea mailing logistics even within the EU, forget trans-atlantic or worldwide except in extreme cases.

I`d do very well with a couple of European sources but....

MRTHE, I would rather ship my gun to a known and respected engraver such as Weldon or Phil Coggan and wait on shipping time, design time, etc., and be assured of a quality piece, rather than spending my time searching for an unkown local who, as he has already found out does NOT do an adequate job, thereby causing me to restart my search, wasting more time and possibly STILL not getting what I wanted in the first place...
I would rather keep it local, good 'ol U.S.of A. made, but I seek quality over convenience. So, if I have to wait longer, at least I know that I will be getting what I wanted on the first try.

If someone has contact info. I would be much appreciated. I would love to send it to Spain, I just don't have that much time... it is for a Coin club, and they are way late on this. I am just trying to help out.

Hmmm... This thread is getting a little rough.

MRTHE is really good at coins, but I bet there at least a 100 engravers in the US that can hand letter. I bet there is even 1 or 2 in the Los Angeles area. I know of Kenneth Palmer, William Rice, John Barraclough, Bruce Gleason, Kenny Majors, Edward Peugh, Denis Reece, Gilbert Rudolph, Bruce Shaw in California.

This is what i have try to say in my previous posts, why if a person ask for a local engraver we had to send it in Europe?
Lettering works should be cheap here why i have to spent more than 60$ in shipment and with for over a month maybe for something that maybe will be more cheap and fast to do locally ?
I know personally Don is a great guy and own a lot of my works, the problem is not the money or ship it overseas is just a question of to be practice.
And yes in US we have thousands of engravers better than me or with the same skills of others european engravers.

I know that this is off topic. But I can order from China ,Hong Kong where ever. I get the Item faster than if it was shipping from the west coast.

Dale,

I've ordered some things from China, at my place within a week some take close to a month. It all depends if they ship air mail.

Saludos,

Carlos
