After lots of looking I plucked up the courage to come out of the closet ! Posted two pics ( THE DESIGN/LAYOUT IS COURTESY OF SAM - I did confirm that I could use it for practice purposes) This is my first attempt at shading.
Layout traced from video in Corel then I lasered it onto mild steel. "backbones " linescut with 116 degree . The shading was with a 96 deg . I re sharpened the tool to have almost no heel as I could not get a fine enough line .
Shading is so much more difficult than it looks !!!
Got to start somewhere !!:(:)

Welcome out of the closet Paul. :)

You'll need to upload your pics to something like Photobucket, then add the url to your post here.

Your first attempt at engraving is pretty good. Be careful about sanding the piece after engraving though, as it 'rounds' the engraved edges.
