Restored Colt 1911

Here are the before and after pictures of a Colt 1911 that I restored for a customer. It was badly neglected, and found in an old house. Serial # indicates the Colt left the factory in 1917. All the lettering was also restored.

Yes, excellent work! Those of us that are new to engraving would like to know the step by step process. What are the materials you use and what is their source? I am sure this took a lot of time. I have been using paper of various grits on a piece of plate glass for flat surfaces and wrap it around a hard flat surface to go over curved surfaces. Is there a better way?

I must give credit to my assistant Chris who I trained that now works on all the hand polishing at my shop,all the work is done with files,stone,in different grits and wet & dry automotive paper.The lettering is done by an other assistant who can mach any style of lettering or logo's.Thanks everyone for your kind comments.
