Well it's taken forever to get to this point! Between bad enamel an the kiln not operating right but we finally got it. All that's left is for the customer to settle on the stone for the eye

Monk, the synthetic stuff is usually a resin. Now they are selling a resin that cures under ultraviolet light. Stolen from the dental industry...

It is euphemistically flogged by jewelry suppliers as "cold enamel" - instead of what it really is.

And of course, because "jewelers" buy it - the price is exorbitant.

i've done a limited amount of real enameling. have never given the uv cure stuff a try.seems like hocus pocus to cure stuff with a uv source. but given the conditions our teeth are constantly exposed to, you got to believe it's good stuff. how long would any engraving or piece of jewelry survive if constantly exposed to what our teeth endure ? ex: two dissimilar metals being bathed in an acidic solution ! corroded inlays, maybe ?
