In one of my trade publications, I have the article & photos of the Lord's Prayer engraved on the POINT of a pin with a tuned up Gorton pantograph. A .005" flat was stoned on the point before the task was undertaken, and even one's own body heat would cause things to get out of kilter. We've seen photos of the Englishman who hand engraved "NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE" on the edge of a razor blade. These two instances had the help of specialized equipment (pantograph & microscope) which the ancient one's did not have. Work like this tests human capabilities, and it would be interesting to discover other such miniature works that have been documented in some way. Oxygen and moisture in the atmosphere can kill things quickly, and I would like to see more work on the photographic angle of your knife. Is the atomic microscope next? I was at a research center some years back, the the scope did some excellent resolution, with photos second to none. Any such scopes on eBay? Just a thought.
