I have been watching Sam's video on jewelry engraving and the Lumenesque part is giving me issues. I am pretty sure my cuts are way to deep. It is to the point I am bogging down my gravermeister = (
So here are my two questions
1. The internal parts of the scroll, should they be as deep as the border or just deep enough that your graver has enough bite to make the cuts?(my border might be to deep)
2. Sometimes when I am making the bright cuts I get what I can best describe as a smudge. What causes this and how do I fix it? It doesn't seem to happen in steel but in soft metals like brass and gold I get them from time to time.
