Hi - I am new to this forum and new to scrimshaw. I have been an active wood carver since 1998 and fooled around making & modifying knives for a couple of years. As my old eyes are not so great now I am considering purchasing a reasonably priced boom arm microscope and would appreciate any comments or advice regarding these instruments.
Thanks
Keith

Hi Keith, take a look at Tira Mitchell's website, she has a very good deal on a Leica microscope setup. It comes pretty highly recommended by a some very good engravers too.

welcome, & best of luck in your endeavors. check out the search bar on katherine plumer. what she doesn't know of this art, aint been invented yet. don't be too hasty in sinking a lot of money in equipment. some quality scopes can be had , used, on ebay for way less than a new one. check the tips section on scopes. there's a ton of all kinds of info there.
