Yep, I've used the application, you become an artist in seconds!

If your on the Apple platform: camera lucida

If you're on the Android platform: artist's eye

It is way cheaper to buy the applications then buying a true camera lucida

Use the search button there is an old thread with tons of info.

Check out youtube you'll find more info there.

Personally i think that for engraving is impossible to use, for drawing.... with the modern technology if you want exist better alternatives and more cheap, but well you will don't learn drawing with all this apparatus only to "Re-trace"

I had my high school make camera lucidas. You have to hold your head
Very still in order for the image not to move. It's easer to use other methods
David Hockney used one and wrote about it in his book.
Maybe some one else remembers the title.

i think will be more , easy ,fast and accurate (and cheap) print the photo and use a light table, or a window glass using the sun light to copy a draw in this way.
The draw of the second video is terrible.
You will not learn nothing about drawing with this tools.
But are fun to try if you have extra time free.

The drawing is probably terrible, I don't know Have not watched the whole thing:)
But as is evident in the first, has great possibility, I think the app in only 2.99 for the android version, I think that's pretty cheap.

It would be great for drawing main lines, backbones and such.

I don't use it, but I guess I'll have to make a video for engraving purposes.

i have try one when i was study the Academy of fine arts and is not easy to use, maybe usefull in the past century for draw outline of landscapes or something similar, but if i have serious doubts that can be helpfull for engraving, if the guy in the video is not able to reproduce better a simple eye circle 2" big , if you have to do more intricate drawings....
Maybe i'm wrong and your video will show that yes is usefull but from my personal experience i think not, expecialky for engraving.

I agree this will not teach you how to draw, that's for sure. For that I recommended Lee's book and dvd.

Won't have time to make the video right now, going on vacation, then I have to finish a 1911 that I'm working on. Ill try to squeeze the video in there.
