This is a stock for a Remington 552 speed master. This stock was in very bad shape when I got it. I added the cheek rest to make it more sporty. It's an heirloom Gun, Royce was the grandfather. And Keni is the granddaughter its going to.

Hope y'all like it. Its my first stock I carved with using only chisles and blades.

I like it. Do you know what kind of wood it is. I've done some carving in oak walnut and hickory and the later two look nice but are hard to work and I had a lot of problems with splitting.

I'm not sure what kind of wood I was. It did not look or cut like walnut, oak, hickory. It was very ( dry ) and splintery . But it did burnish nicely. Could be a very low grade of walnut. Wasn't pleasing to cut.

well, can you say "heirloom" ? looks like you've created one. real nice and personal. i'm sure the recipient will sleep with this for a few nights, before putting it in the gun rack !
