    Default How to transfer designs

I am new to engraving and I'm having some difficulties transfering my designs to metal using acetone. I have recently ordered some applique paper for gunstock carving but don't know if this method will work on metal. I also have no clue how to get my designs onto blued metal since ink shows through black and would really like to find out. I have my designs ready for a colt 1851 replica but need a little help to get me started.

Try fingernail polish remover. Acetone is to aggressive for some toners. I take it you are using a laser printer.

Yes I am using a laser printer at the local library. I'll see if the remover will work.

Jericho, some time back I made a video blog about the way I do a transfer using a toner printer.
I use the Damar varnish, bakery parchment the way I got it from Mike.

Here is the link to the video blog: http://www.engraversstudio.com/apps/...?id=8f2c31d3b5

Also remove the bluing, before engraving. Acid based toilet bowl cleaner works well
