Normally I like to fabricate because I like taking simple actions that directly translate into something that looks nice and is already done. However I decided it was time to stop being scared of wax and try it.

Here is my first ring I've made carved from wax. It is a two piece ring made for a 5X4 natural alexandrite. I tried the wheat leaf pattern on it after assembling the castings and setting the stone. The shank is 14KW and rhodium plated to contrast the rustoleum patina. Looks a little haggard at this mag but I was happy overall with the out come. I wish I would've continued the pattern all the way to the head though, and not doubled the size of the last leaf and stopped short on the flat sides.

That rolled look you got on the inside of the shank is great. Not easy to engrave. That rush you get from casting your own wax is just something hard to get over. Two shade cuts just before the head would have a better look. I like it. Jack
