Hi there! My name is Chris Goldswain, originally from Bulawayo, Zimbabwe - I now live in Norwich UK.

As a boy in Bulawayo there was always opportunity to explore far and wide, with the Matopos to the south, Nymandhlovu to the north, Essexvale to the east and Khami to the west. Much of my spare time was spent in the Nymandhlovu area where there was an abundance of semi precious stones ranging from agate, various quartzes, jasper, carnelian, tigers eye and petrified wood!
My collection grew from many outings to collect stones as well as other fascinating things, including dinosaur bones! I had some of the best times of my life in Rhodesia.

I Loved Making Jewellery
My interest spread quite naturally to lapidary, the cutting, shaping and polishing of gemstones to make pendants, earrings and rings. It was easy to make presents for friends and relatives at very little cost and hopefully some of these gifts are still worn by those I gave them to. The one frustrating aspect of making jewellery in those days was that I could only afford cheap“findingsâ€￾ – clasps, chains and mountings for the stones.

And so it was, that many years later when living in Scotland, I decided to learn silversmithing. At Lauder College in Dunfermline I was taught how to make quality jewellery and it has proved to be one of my most-rewarding pursuits in terms of enjoyment and creativity. It is most gratifying to make something that people value enough to pay for it and like it enough to wear it!
