I'm glad that you have found an in person mentor -- I'm still looking for one, or a local class as well. For now, I'm stuck with what videos are available online.
There are some here with, laser, experience but it think your question world be better addressed in a laser forum or something similar, this is primarily for hand engraving, i know monk...
