For years I have used 3/4" double sided tape. I make standing sticks from 3/4" pine about 1/4" thick, put two pieces of double sided tape on the wood, and then wrap the sandpaper around the stick and...sam 10-10-2015, 02:27 PM

Try finding "old fashioned" rubber cement? Works fine on my sanding sticks...
I also make sticks for hand polishing metals and burnished wax models using hard felt.

Perhaps I am not as aggressive a stone setter? I do use carbide burnishers - occasionally - but they are not my "go to tool".
I use what I have had the best results from, depending on the stone....
