Twentieth Anniversary The Double Gun and Singleshot Journal Winter 2009

Just got back from Borders Bookstore and noticed the Twentieth Anniversary of The Double Gun and Singleshot Journal Winter 2009 which has some beautiful gun engravings in it and an article about Lisa Tomlin, an engraver who apprenticed under Ken Hurst. I don't know if this has been posted yet but it's definitely worth a look at and the article about Lisa Tomlin is quite interesting! Here's a link.

If you are seriously interested in gun engraving, a subscription to Doublegun Journal is a must. They are expensive but actually have a resale value in excess of the cover price after a few years. I have a collection of every issue from the begining.

Each issue is full of engraved shotguns and single shot rifles and the photos usually show the engraving quite well. DGJ is also a good way to learn about the high end gun market.

Shooting Sportsman http://www.shootingsportsman.com/ is also a good one for engraved shotguns. The latest issue has an article about Phil Coggan's Nelson gun and another on a celtic gun by Creative Art.
