Hello Don, that is some serious sculptured engraving. Amazing, you must have spent many months on this project.

Wow

Great depth! The owner's grandchildren might see some wear but he won't.

Is this carved or etched? The background has the look I associate with acid etch but you've got the detail and crispness I never associated with acid etch before Montejano started posting here.

Hi, The engraving this fact completely with chisel and hammer we did not use acid, the bottom is seen this by the effect that gives the point chisel grettings since Cuernavaca Morelos mexico

Hello thank you very much, they were almost eight weeks of work, although the eagle was more detailed grettings since the city of eternal spring

I actually feel better about being wrong.

Here I've been learning how to dig out metal a bit at a time and it was looking like all the smart people just acid etched. But as it turns out, no, there are a few people who can acid etch like that but most folks just keep digging.

And in your case also take the time to get a very even and consistent background other than dead smooth or the usual stipple.

Only eight weeks? I'm guessing you know a few tricks to get it done that quickly. :)

Luis,

I really like the Mexican eagle motif. I used it on my personal 1866 carbine that I use in cowboy competition.
